Gentle yet effective.
Amanda has a magical ability to observe and a peaceful, sincere presence that somehow transmits knowledge subtly, like a gift. Her approach is gentle yet effective. She has patiently and compassionately guided me in exploration of body and mind for more than ten years, for which I am truly thankful.

Supported and accepted .
When I began yoga sūtra chanting group, I was worried about whether my chanting capacities would be strong enough to keep up, but during class, I feel very supported in my chanting journey and accepted for where I am in that journey. I have developed a study plan which I follow every week and I’ve seen how my attention to detail in chanting has improved. Learning to chant the sutras is a bit of a process but it is also a very rewarding experience.

Pain no longer haunts me.
Amanda has been my mentor for a few years now. Thanks to her wisdom, support, authenticity, and care I have received the tools necessary to navigate and come through some very difficult situations in life (physical, mental/emotional, relational). There are numerous issues that I have been supported through over the years. The chronic back pain that I had previously lived with no longer haunts me. I have been able to mend a strenuous and tumultuous relationship with my teenage daughter. The value of the relationship/mentorship with Amanda is absolutely indispensable! She has so much to offer anyone willing to engage.

Personal and spiritual development.
I understand my yoga practice to be a very personal and intimate experience; yet, for it to deepen and mature, I need guidance from an experienced, highly skilled individual whom I can trust and who cares about my well-being. Amanda— my teacher, guide, and mentor—supports my growth in ways I could have never anticipated. With heart-centered sincerity and attunement, she provides a safe place to make sense of things. Her embodied philosophical understanding offers a soothing presence. Her elegant instruction style, matched with her technical expertise, earns the respect of many. Finally, but not exhaustively, Amanda offers wise counsel while consistently honoring the authenticity of the other. Simply put, Amanda is the consummate yoga therapist. Whether you're new to yoga, or you're an experienced practitioner who’s ready for the next level, I encourage you to avail yourself of this life-changing opportunity!

Clear, honest, and encouraging.
Hi Amanda. I just want to say that I think you are doing a great job with the class. You are clear, honest, and encouraging all at the same time. Not always an easy combination but you do it with grace.

Faith in the unfolding.
There is something about the safety of being woven together and held in this tradition that keeps me grounded. A great deal of pressure is removed as I explore being a Yoga Therapist in the holding Amanda provides for me. Space for my process, respect for my being, no judgements, and faith in the unfolding. There is a vast understanding and real depth Amanda shares with me both through articulation and through intentional experiences she prepares for me.

Stability and attention.
The challenge of chanting on camera as a newbie to the group brought out all my old insecurities and nervousness. Slowly, I am becoming more comfortable in the group. I notice similarities with others. One meeting I felt my voice, the words, come from deep in my belly. I thought, ‘oh yes, there I am’. With chanting practice comes attention to every dot, apostrophe and dash, as well as tongue gymnastics. I’ve noticed my mind can still wander mid sutra but my lasso is stronger.
I have practiced yoga since my mid-thirties. I’m approaching sixty-nine and my practice now gives me a great sense of accomplishment and benefit. And a bonus… I see the stability and attention to detail in chanting practice spread across all areas of my life.
Thank you for this class, Amanda, it is a real joy to be part of this group.

Simple, clear imagery.
The teachings of Yoga flow through Amanda like divine poetry. Her expression is truly a gift for practitioners and teachers with her artful way of forming experiential practices and describing the principles of Yoga through simple, clear imagery. I studied psychology and behavioral health counseling with the intent of becoming a therapist, and beyond her precise application of Yoga techniques for me, I am always captured by her seemingly effortless ability to guide my mind to process whatever comes up and unfold in rich ways. She makes a point to validate every piece of difficulty and self discovery in a manner that speaks “don’t move on so fast, recognize this shift and who you are right now.” Her way of teaching and guiding embody the principles of Yoga and inspire you to adjust your attention to be here - here deep inside while also here in this world - with intention. My gratitude for the support she has offered me is only superseded by the excitement and trust I have in the many, hopefully life long, years of study I will be honored to share with Amanda.

Yoga is a way of being.
Amanda truly exemplifies the expansiveness of Yoga. She has an ability to share the teachings and practices with a generosity that help us see the wholeness within ourselves. While the world may often cloud our vision, Amanda guides us like a sun that shines on our own goodness, supporting the courage and clarity that illuminates who we truly are. Yoga is a way of being and Amanda embodies “being Yoga” with grace and authenticity.

Mental calm to my day and life.
When I began yoga therapy with Amanda, I had significant knee & back pain & flexibility issues. In our sessions, I receive a very specific set of refined poses, updated monthly, plus knowledge of yoga practice that includes meditation, chanting, pranayama, use of oils, tea. The breathing techniques have given me strength in daily activities and I use my breathing as a calming technique to alleviate stress. Amanda provides incalculable encouragement and positive feedback. Each time we meet, we review the period since my last session and talk about aspects of my practice but also events in my personal life have been particularly significant.
Yoga restores my body alignment and creates energy. Although my knee & back pain persists due to chronic arthritis, my flexibility has improved and I have tools to use if pain worsens. I find that regular yoga practice, brings mental calmness to my day and my life.

A bright light during Covid.
I began chanting the yoga sūtras with Amanda three months before covid lockdown. Our group has continued chanting together every week for nearly two years. The routine of our chanting sessions and the supportive way Amanda leads the group, has been a bright light for me during Covid.

Lower stress and personal peace.
In August of 2020 I was suffering from the physical and mental effects of years at a high stress corporate M&A job. Work was my life, although I didn't admit that to myself until my physical body just started to give out. I came to Amanda after my doctor recommended that yoga would be a great way to help me on my journey to wellness. Amanda was amazing from the first day. She listened to me better than my counselor and provided insight into how my thought processes affected my body. With this insight and the practice of yoga I have lowered my stress and become physically healthier while also finding a personal peace that has enabled me to make great changes in my lifestyle and work/life balance. I highly recommend Amanda as a yoga practitioner and guide who can help you find paths to personal wellness and a happier you.

Clear direction.
I’ve worked with Amanda for over 6 years and I appreciate the stability that a personal practice brings to my life. I have clear direction in my career and education. I find peace of mind, body and spirit in everyday life. My pace is much slower and I am able to appreciate more things on a daily basis. I have the ability to see things differently and make different choices regarding my behavior and reactions. The ability to react differently has saved me from much drama and despair. I think what surprises me the most about yoga is how simple the ideas and concepts are to implement in my daily life. It makes sense. Yoga therapy is definitely something you need to experience for yourself.
